Welcome to Tooning Japanese, a podcast where three dudes in their 30s talk about Japanese anime!
Listen to Season 3: Episode 3 – Gunmen Jacking
It’s another Bill and Andy solo episode. While Josh scares little children and gets paid for it for once, your other two hosts review the third episode of Gurren Lagann. Want to know something really scary? Bill has good things to say about it. Spooky, right? Check out our newest review of Episode 3, “Who Do You Think You Are, Having Two Faces!?”
Well, we’ve put the new season off long enough. We’re back with a brand new season, which means a brand new anime! It’s Josh’s time to choose a show, and he’s picked the more recent anime Gurren Lagann. Bill and Andy have a rough time getting through this first episode, but the show has to get better, right? …Right?
If you thought last week was a departure, prepare to move completely away from the realm of animation into the drama and reality of The Newsroom. Yes, Andy’s pick for the final Summer Viewing Program is the HBO program that came from the political mind of Aaron Sorkin. Even if you’re not a fan of anime, give it a listen!
Thank you for being patient as we took last week off! We needed the extra time to get caught up, and now we have the first of three Summer Viewing Programming episodes! This week it’s Josh’s pick, and we’re watching Team Four Star’s Dragon Ball Z Abridged! Andy and Bill had some problems with it, but overall everyone seemed to enjoy it. Join us for our discussion of fan dubbing and our thoughts on the show. Also, can you guess how many times we hear the Josh Owned Counter?
We’re down to the wire, folks! How will Vash deal with the death of Wolfwood and two more Gung-Ho Guns? I guess you’ll have to listen and find out! We review a pretty solid episode of Trigun this week, “Sin.” Happy 4th of July, fellow Americans!
This week’s episode of Trigun, “Out of Time” is a bit of a mixed bag, but all three hosts mostly enjoyed it! The ending still gives us feels so many years and dozens of viewings later. Vash and Wolfwood take on not one, not two, but three Gung-Ho Guns to try and save the only functioning Seed ship still remaining. Can they do it? Listen to find out!
Special thanks to Thurk for help with editing this week!
This week we have yet another good episode of Trigun for you all! With that pesky flashback behind us, we get back to the main timeline and the return of Nicholas D. Wolfwood! Vash is living undercover, but how long can The Humanoid Typhoon stay hidden? Find out in our review of Episode 18, “Goodbye For Now.”
