It’s a brand new era on Tooning Japanese! We have a new host for this season in Superfan So, Shinji is in the mech. Now what? This week Shinji takes Unit 01 out for a spin and battles his Is this the horniest episode of Tooning Japanese ever? Maybe. Is it the fault of Evangelion? Maybe. We may not know these answers, but we do know that this is another great episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion. This week Andy, Bill, and Matt talk about Episode 3, “The Silent Phone.” Toon in for Matt’s very first review!
Welcome to 2021! We’re back with a brand new double episode review! This week’s episode marks the end of the Blood War story arc. Will Brandon and Harry help the organization defeat Lightning and their army of undead gunmen? You’ll have to listen and find out as we review Episode 10, “Conflict,” and Episode 11, “Heat.”
We’re back with more Gungrave! We are SO EXCITED for this season that we decided to talk about TWO EPISODES! Yes, this week the full crew talks about Episode 2 of Gungrave, “Young Dogs,” and Episode 3, “Rain.” If you thought the first episode of the series was too gun crazy, then you’re in luck. We slow things down and go back to a simpler time before whatever apocalypse ravaged the landscape and littered it with orgman. In these two episodes we are introduced to a younger Brandon and Harry as they fight for survival with their gang of friends. And I’m sure nothing tragic will happen to thrust these two into a life of organized crime. Right?
Season 6 is here! Before you listen, we want to thank you all for your continued support over the years. We love getting to just sit down and talk about and dissect some of our favorite anime. Some of them are super popular newer anime like One Punch Man and Gurren Lagaan. Others were classics like Trigun and Wolf’s Rain. And there was Excel Saga, too! Thank you for taking this journey with us!
This week we start our deep dive into the, perhaps lesser known classic, Gungrave. In this first episode we are introduced to our protagonist, Brandon Heat. And he’s packing some major heat as much of the episode is him gunning down weird white creatures called orgman. The first episode of the anime wasn’t great, but it gets a heck of a lot better starting at episode 2. Join Andy, Bill, and Josh (gasp!) for the start of our brand new season!
I totally forgot to post this a week ago on here! Fear not, website visitors, here is last week’s episode!
It’s just Andy and Bill in the studio once again, but they get into some really interesting discussions about this week’s episode of One Punch Man. In Episode 6, “The Terrifying City,” Saitama searches for a way to remain a registered superhero. It would be easy if he could just find some bad guy to best. Now where might he be able to find one of those in the quiet city streets of Japan? Find out if he manages in this week’s review!
Bill and Andy get back down to business, and just like Saitama and Genos, they have studied hard and are ready to take on the ultimate test…finding the time to actually record! Our heroes try and prove themselves as worthy of serving the city as superheroes. It’s Episode 5 of One Punch Man, “The Ultimate Master”!
The crew is back together once again to talk about the second episode of One Punch Man! This time around we are introduced to a brand new character, Genos, who is a robot man looking for a master to train him. There’s also a giant mosquito lady, a menagerie of beastmen, and a mad scientist with hundreds of clones! Why did I re-read this in the voice of Excel? Must be beacuse it’s Jessica Calvello’s birthday today (Go tell her happy birthday on Twitter!). Anywho, let’s wind up and punch our way through Episode 2 of One Punch Man, “The Lone Cyborg.”
Prison fight scene? Check. Man butt? Check. A surprisingly just okay episode in the second arc of Gurren Lagann? Check. This week we review Episode 20 of Gurren Lagann, “How Far Will God Test Us?” It’s not bad, but could this be a sign that the series is already starting to lose its grip on Andy and Bill? Listen to our review to find our for yourself!
