I've inhabited this planet for thirty years, teach high school English, enjoy reading and writing, play the occasional video and tabletop game, and am completing my thesis over the teaching and censorship of Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn.
Andy and Bill have officially reached the pinnacle for Record of Lodoss War. This week they review the two best episodes of the entire series, Episode 7, “The War of Heroes,” and Episode 8, “Requiem for Warriors.” If you haven’t seen the series, you cannot understand the level of awesome here! Go watch them! Join us for another conversation of epic high fantasy and Dungeons and Dragons. Oh, and anime, too!
It’s that time again! The boys (yes, all three of them) are back together, and they’ve got a double dose of Wolf’s Rain reviews! This week Josh goes over the events of Episode 12, “Don’t Make Me Blue,” and Andy has the deets on Episode 13, “Men’s Lament.” Things seem to be turning around a bit as all three of the hosts really dug these episodes for their own reasons. Go watch the episodes and then join us as we still try to figure out just who Lady Jaguara really is.
Bill and Andy are sans Josh again, but that won’t stop them from talking about another episode of Wolf’s Rain! This week the dynamic duo tackle Episode 11, “Vanishing Point.” It’s not a great episode. Hell, saying it outright, it’s a pretty bad one. That said, Andy and Bill still try to find the bright moments and at least have fun trying to decipher just what is even going on. But hey, there is a battle between wolves and space lasers! So that’s kind of cool! Join us for another wacky episode of Tooning Japanese!
The spooky season may be over, but why not extend it just one more day with our review of one of our favorite anime movies of all time, Vampire Hunter D! It’s just Bill and Andy at it again, and they dig deep into the strangeness of the story and all of its monsters and characters. Join us for a discussion of the anime poster goth, his smart ass hand, and a bunch of ancient evil. Who will win out? C’mon, do you really need to ask?
Bill and Andy are back to talk more D&D with a side of Record of Lodoss War! This time around they review Episode 5, “The Desert King” and Episode 6, “The Sword of the Dark Emperor.” Are you #TeamDarn or #TeamPeedlit? What’s with the recycled fight scenes? And why does everyone freaking have a crush on King Kashue? Find out the answers to these questions on another hilarious bonus episode!
We’re back to a three man crew as Thurk steps into the studio to experience Wolf’s Rain for the very first time. Unfortunately, this isn’t the best episode to introduce the story thus far. This week we review Episode 10, “Moon’s Doom,” and basically the wolves get lost in a bland forest and fight bugs. Oh yeah, and Hige and Toboe get all horny. That’s about it. We still have a blast talking about the episode and other things anyway, so stop what you’re doing and give this episode a listen!
Better late than never, right? This week you get not one, but two episode reviews of Wolf’s Rain. This time around Josh and Bill review Episode 8, “Song of Sleep,” and then Bill pulls some wicked witchcraft and brings in Andy and gets rid of Josh for Episode 9, “Misgivings.” One episode is boring, and nothing happens aside from Cheza getting some new boots, and the other is a tender spotlight episode about Blue. We hope you enjoy!
