Welcome to 2021! We’re back with a brand new double episode review! This week’s episode marks the end of the Blood War story arc. Will Brandon and Harry help the organization defeat Lightning and their army of undead gunmen? You’ll have to listen and find out as we review Episode 10, “Conflict,” and Episode 11, “Heat.”
I cannot believe that we have finally reached the end of 2020 after the last 27 months. Well, it’s felt that long, at least. We have a couple of fun games as well as gift giving. Speaking personally (it’s Andy btw), despite how bad 2020 has been, I am thankful for everything that we have managed to accomplish still this year. And we are all thankful for you, the fans, who continue to listen to us and support our show. Here’s to a hopefully brighter 2021.
This week marks the beginning of an awesome story arc! Episode 9, “Dispute,” introduces us to the rough and tumble Blood War. Maybe Bill is right about these names. Anywho, Blood War takes charge of a group of men and prepares to launch an all out war against Millenion. Brandon and Harry step forward to put a stop to this maniac, but will they be able to stop a plan that involves bringing the dead to life? Guess you’ll have to listen to this week’s episode and find out!
It was the best of episodes. It was the worst of episodes. Talk about a mixed bag this week! The boys are back with another two pack episode. Josh reviews the sorta meh Episode 7, “5 Years Later.” Then Andy goes through the stellar Episode 8, “Family.” Brandon and Harry continue to climb the ladder at Millenion, but who will be sacrificed along the way of their ascent? Guess you’ll have to join us to find out more!
Who’s your daddy? Your Big Daddy that is. Fans, we have a blast talking about this week’s review, which is a solo episode this time around. We review the amazingly titled Episode 6 of Gungrave, “Big Daddy.” Brandon and Maria want to get close, but there’s only one thing in the way: an angry mob boss. It’s a classic story of boy meets girl, girl goes to live with a crime lord, boy fishes with crime boss, boy and crime boss eat girl’s pie. You’ll have to listen to this week’s episode to find out just what is going on in this anime.
What a week. Like, seriously. What. A. Week. If you weren’t already elated this historic Saturday, why not smile and laugh and cheer some more at a brand new episode of Tooning Japanese! This week Bill, Josh, and Andy discuss more Gungrave. More specifically they review Episode 4, “Go,” and Episode 5, “Millennion.” The boys have a grand old time talking about how Brandon and Harry get involved with the mafia. It’s a lot more fun than it sounds.
We’re back with more Gungrave! We are SO EXCITED for this season that we decided to talk about TWO EPISODES! Yes, this week the full crew talks about Episode 2 of Gungrave, “Young Dogs,” and Episode 3, “Rain.” If you thought the first episode of the series was too gun crazy, then you’re in luck. We slow things down and go back to a simpler time before whatever apocalypse ravaged the landscape and littered it with orgman. In these two episodes we are introduced to a younger Brandon and Harry as they fight for survival with their gang of friends. And I’m sure nothing tragic will happen to thrust these two into a life of organized crime. Right?
Yeah, we know it’s October. However, this episode was supposed to be part of our Summer Viewing before we started Season 6. What with Global Warming and living in the Midwest, what even are seasons anyway? We’re so excited to bring on one of our favorite people and podcast hosts, Yata from My Anime Podcast! This week we dive into the first three episodes of Mob Psycho 100, and man, did we all have an absolute (psychic) blast. We bet you will, too! At least, we read your minds and saw that you did…or will? Being an esper is hard work.
Season 6 is here! Before you listen, we want to thank you all for your continued support over the years. We love getting to just sit down and talk about and dissect some of our favorite anime. Some of them are super popular newer anime like One Punch Man and Gurren Lagaan. Others were classics like Trigun and Wolf’s Rain. And there was Excel Saga, too! Thank you for taking this journey with us!
This week we start our deep dive into the, perhaps lesser known classic, Gungrave. In this first episode we are introduced to our protagonist, Brandon Heat. And he’s packing some major heat as much of the episode is him gunning down weird white creatures called orgman. The first episode of the anime wasn’t great, but it gets a heck of a lot better starting at episode 2. Join Andy, Bill, and Josh (gasp!) for the start of our brand new season!
While you wait for some new content, why not check out what is available on our Patreon? This is just a section of one of our favorite episodes. In Bonus Episode 40, which we recorded as a video, we take the major characters from Trigun, Gurren Lagaan, Wolf’s Rain, and Excel Saga and decide where they would fit into The Hero Association from One Punch Man. This one is a ton of fun!
Also, we are going to start releasing Season 1 over on our YouTube channel! So be on the look out for that!
